Guests & seasons

Who visits, how the snowline and the seasons change your job, day and night, and how to control time.

#Your guests

Skiers and snowboarders in colourful jackets streaming down a groomed slope.
Guests come in all shapes: skiers, boarders, families, hikers.

Guests come as solo travellers, couples, families, budget skiers, VIPs and adventurers. Each type has its own taste in prices, its own patience and its own favourite things to do. In winter they ski or snowboard (roughly one in three boards), in summer they hike or ride mountain bikes, and some just relax at the lake or the rink.

Guests have needs: they queue for lifts, get hungry, tire, get cold and sometimes get hurt. When they leave they judge the resort, and the average becomes your star rating.

#Reviews

The News panel shows guest reviews in their own words: quiet slopes, long gondola queues, great hot chocolate. Treat them as free consulting.

#Click a guest

Click any guest to open the guest inspector: type, mood, what they are doing and a short bio. From there you can Ride along (see Ride, Walk & Photo). A few guests carry a name and a wish; see Events, stories & the region.

#The year

A game year has 180 days in 12 months of 15 days:

Season Length What it means for you
Spring 30 days The snowline climbs. High lifts still ski, the valley turns green.
Summer 60 days Hiking, biking, lakes and farms. Lifts that carry bikes shine.
Autumn 30 days A breathing space: maintenance, bears get hungry, the first snow.
Winter 60 days Peak ski season: queues, grooming nights, holidays.

#The real snowline

Snow depends on altitude and temperature. Low pistes melt out first, high ones last, which is why spring skiing works only up high while the valley already hikes. Buildings show a closed: too warm at 1,240 m message when the air is wrong for them. Snowmaking buys you time on a thin base (see Lifts & pistes).

The same valley in spring: blossom in the meadows, thin snow on the high slopes.
Spring: skiing up high, hiking down low.

#Summer is not a holiday

Winter buildings are mothballed in summer and cost a fraction of their upkeep, but you still pay wages, loans and the rest. Build hiking and biking trails, an Adventure Park, the beach or boat rental, and run a summer campaign. Rudi warns you in late spring to save a buffer.

Summer: the snow is gone, the hikers and bikers arrive.

#Day and night

Guests ski between morning and the late afternoon. At night windows glow, lamp posts light and groomers go to work. The moon button on the speed controls makes nights pass about three times faster.

After dark the windows light up.

#Time controls

One in-game day lasts 150 seconds at normal speed (1×). The speed buttons:

Button Day lasts about
Pause (Space) stopped (you can still build)
1× 150 s
3× 50 s
10× 15 s

Use + / . for faster and - / , for slower.

The skip button (next to the speed controls), or K, fast-forwards: Next month, Next season or Next event. It stops by itself when something important happens, and any click, Esc or Space cancels it. It is not available in ride-along, walk or photo mode, or in the tutorial.
